Group berates Ijaw, Isoko, Itsekiri elders
Written by EMMA AMAIZE

The group in a statement jointly signed by its coordinator and secretary, Messrs. Jerry Gbakomi Uvoh and Tisha Mathew said, “It is very disheartening that elders and leaders that ordinarily we had assumed to be well read, well traveled and exposed could degenerate to this level of pettiness and deliberate mischief, all in a bid to deceive and misinform the public, heat up the polity and fan the embers of ethnic distrust that has been the bane of their generation.”

“At a time when the government of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan is busy rebuilding the bridges of ethnic harmony, cooperation and peace amongst Deltans, these ethnic irredentists and tribal propagandists are about to whip up sentiments of conflict and war for reasons best known to them,"

Noting that, “For the avoidance of doubt, the residents of the Delta Central senatorial district have no apologies to render to any individual or group for being given more constituencies in the proposed delimitation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The norm all over the world is to delimit constituencies according to population so as to the effective representation of the residents/voters in a particular area in the parliament/legislature”.

“For these so-called leaders to ask the INEC to use terrain, crude oil/gas production quota in delimiting constituencies is not only laughable but also pitiable and preposterous. Kano state has 40 local government areas and close to 260 constituencies, how many barrels of does it produce?
