Deep vessels soon to enter Warri Port
Written by
Mike Odiegwu, Asaba

This, he said, would make it possible for deep vessels to enter Warri Port and so increase commercial activities in the oil-rich city.

Uduaghan, who gave the hint on Tuesday in Asaba during the inauguration of Vision 2020 Council and Steering Committee, said the government had taken steps to re-awaken public interest in the utilization of Delta Ports.

“We have held talks with the leadership of the business communities from Onitsha and Nnewi. They are very enthusiastic to use Delta Ports to service their maritime needs and are encouraged that we are already taken steps to remove the impediments which had hindered them in the past”, he said.

He also said that he would dualise the 160km Ughelli-Asaba federal road adding that, this would facilitate free movement of goods and services from Warri port.

He further said that the state government would soon be granted license to establish the Koko Export Free Zone, which according to him has led to the award of contract to dualise the Koko-Ugberu road.

This, he said would make the state to be ringed by dual carriage ways from the West to the South which would enhance quicker business transactions.

Furthermore to tackle the problem of energy and attract investors, Uduaghan, reiterated a plan to build two independent power plant in Delta North to service Asaba and another in Warri to service the South and central part of the state.
